M&I Forums | Worldwide Events

M & I Forums and Worldwide Events host events to bring buyers and supplies from various industries together at networking events. At these events, meeting times, breaks and appointment needed to be displayed in a countdown clock fashion around the venue. This project we created the backend and UI design as well as the front end application.

The backend was created with a custom fluid design and admins can load new events, sortable appointments and logos for sponsors. The backend was written in PHP and uses a MySQL database.

The clock, frontend app, was designed to be run offline by synchronising event data by means of importing event data via AJAX from a PHP API, in JSON format. The desktop app saves the graphical assets and events data in Local Storage and can thus be synced ahead of time to be used offline in locations that do not offer public internet connectivity.

For exact time accuracy, the clock itself creates time slot expiration tokens and does not rely on the on-screen displayed time that might not be accurate due to the time lost on animation. As the clock supports SVG and PNG logos and runs in a browser, the output is not resolution dependent and can be run on any size screen or projector that is available at event venues.
